Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Karad established on 7th August 1986 by Shikshan
Mandal, Karad, for quality education for girls. It has established
separate Kanyashala high school, for girls in 1940 and now in
1986 it was felt that Karad should have separate women's college
center, for the need of higher liberal education of Karad and
surrounding villages. In spite of several good conditioned colleges
in Karad, the high turn of girls from the high school warranted
women's college to meet the expectation of learning girls. The
decision and implementation of it has stood up to the test of
time and today Mahila Mahvidyalaya – a senior college affiliated
to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, almost more than 1160 students
in Arts and commerce faculties. In addition there are 1300 girl
student in Tilak High School and Junior College in the faculties
of Arts, and commerce and science.
Since 2003 Mr. More acts as principle of Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Karad
and are successfully carrying responsibility with the help of
25 teachers.
Courses:
Mahila Mahavidyalaya is senior college afflicted to Shivaji university,
Kolhapur. It admits and prepares women students for B.A. and B.Com.
Degrees.
B.A. is the three-year course. B.A.I, II, III. It provides specialization
in English, Marathi, Hindi, and Economics & Geography in Last
year.
B.Com. is also three year integrated course. B.Com-I,II, III and
provided specialization in advanced Accounting and Auditing.
At the end of each academic year, Shivaji university, Kolhapur, conducts
annual examination. After three years the marks scored are totaled
up and the result and class declared.
Shivaji university, Kolhapur at the convioation, confirms the graduation
certificate.
Mahila Mahavidyalaya is having general departments of English, Marathi,
Political Science, psychology, and having special departments
of English, Marathi, Hindi, economics, and geography.
Girls shows admirable participation in the Kabbadi competition, Personality
Development camp, student orientation programme etc. they also
carry out cultural activities like Food festival, Ganesh Festival,
Mehndi Competition, Rangoli Competition, Human rights day, Hindi
day, Sanskrit Day, etc.
