Most
of the schools today undertake to complete the formal course
of studies and prepare the students for the final examinations
only. These courses and examinations thereto are memory oriented.
The education thus imputed aims at some intellectual skills
and develops the lust for wealth and conspicuous consumption.
This system of education has developed materialistic and immoral
society. The materialism has led to the translation experience,
valueless behavior and addicted society. The strangle hold of
these can be broken by Indian Education System that is founded
on human values and inner self development called - Development
of five selves
Great Indian philosophers like Vivekannda, Yogi Arvinanda, Shri.
Saneguruji, Archarya Vinoba, S. Radhakrishanan, Pandurnag Shastri
of Dnyan Probodhini, Pune have called for total self development
through education as a remedy for the ailing society.
Their thoughts are programmed through the Semi-Residential Gurukul,
at Karad. The programme follows similar programme launched at
Nigadi Pune by Shri. Wamanravaoji Abhyankar. The programme is
launched from June 2000 at Karad for 44 students (34 boys and
9 girls) belonging to fifth standard. Progressively it will
be extended to tenth standard.

to the 5th standard with good academic achievements will be
selected through written and oral tests :- followed by a thorough
discussion interview where along with intellectual qualities
the attitudes of the students, his readiness to exert disciplined
mind and co-operation of the parents form basic considerations.
At present the entry is restricted to our schools alone.
A separate class of these students is conducted from 7 o' clock
in the morning to 7 in the evening. The students are expected
to be in the school during these twelve hours. Morning snacks,
lunch and afternoon snacks are served in the school alone. The
parents reach a lunch and the school at cost provides the snacks.
Philosophic Bases
Semi residential Gurukul aims at total development of personal
qualities of self. Imparting the curricular instructions to
the students is one objective, not the only of the school. The
foundation of Gurukul is the development of five selves- Spheres
of soul; Education is thus a journey towards the self-search.
The five spheres are 1. Food based or Body based, 2. System
based or Soul based, 3.Psychey based, 4. Intellect based, Scientific
based and Bliss based, Satisfaction in totality. The aim of
these efforts is to make the students instinctually competent,
psychologically stable and alert and alert and culturally humane.
Daylong Annual Programme of Semi-residential Gurukul
Development of food based and soul based spheres to make the
body strong and competent these spheres are activated through
Omkar, Sun - Postures, Yoga are practiced at 7 in morning with
expert guide.
Soul based Development is promoted by Gita recitation. Three
cantos are learned by heart in three months with proper chants.

clock is spent in Value Education General Knowledge, Environmental
out look development and in friendship with mathematics. The
students write their understanding of the morning two hours
